A while back I read a story featuring Doug Mientkiewicz, Joe Mauer, and Johan Santana. Set in the '04 season, I believe, shortly after Doug got traded to the Red Sox. Dougie was evil and manipulative, Joey was too easily swayed, and Johan gets hurt.

I have been trying to find this fic ever since I read it -- it's nowhere to be found. Does it ring any bells for anyone?

Any leads are appreciated!

For those who write or have written minor league baseball fics:

What are the arrangements for travel and lodging in the minors? I know teams travel by bus, but do they stay in motels and such when on the road? Probably a dumb question but I never stopped to think about it. I'm sitting on a minor-league fic I wanna do and I need to know.

Thanks.

Just out of curiosity (mostly), what websites do you guys find most effective for research?

I do most of mine on baseball-reference, so I know they're great for historical rosters and playoff boxscores ...but does anybody know if there are any websites that archive game recaps or box scores/Gameday for regular seasons besides the current one? I'm starting a long story that starts in the 2002 season (major league-wise anyway) and I just find it much easier to write game situations if my dates and things that happen are accurate, you know?

I'm having some problems with a story I'm working on. I'm trying to write it first person past, as though one of the main characters is writing the experiences in his secret journal. I'm pretty eloquent when I write, so this presents a problem to the authenticity of the story. I'm afraid it won't come out sounding real if I wrote his journal stuff in my own style. So I tried to "dumb it down" of sorts, using shorter sentences and less description, and it stinks. Does anyone else have problems with voice?

Thanks.
